Grant Park Feeders
1/2/2024
I’m all caught up with daily blog posts for the new year! Let’s see how many days in a row I can keep this up.
After work today, I drove over to Grant Park to check out the feeders. A couple of months before, I had seen a female Purple Finch, and I hoped that she would be lingering around the feeders and adjacent vegetation. Today yield no sightings, but a motley crew of Northern Cardinals, House Finches, American Goldfinches, Downy Woodpeckers, Black-capped Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos, and Red-bellied Woodpeckers feasted on the winter smorgasbord. Six Mourning Doves caught zzz’s in the leafless shrubs nearby. Overhead, a Red-tailed Hawk made its rounds.
Driving to the north edge of Grant Park, I hoped to find a Northern Screech-owl to no avail.
Oh well.
