Ospreys at Big Muskego Lake
Tonight, we attended a lecture about the reintroduction of Ospreys at Big Muskego Lake. The talk, hosted by the Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society, was given by Bill Stout, a local researcher. Over the past twenty years, he has been raising or “hacking” young Ospreys and monitoring their movements around southeastern Wisconsin before their eventual migration.
Apart from learning interesting facts about Ospreys, as their average life span (5-6 years) and holarctic, cosmopolitan distribution, I came away with a greater appreciation for conservation efforts closer to home.
